Julia King is a Graphic Designer & Illustrator based in Morrison, Colorado.

I'm a graphic designer and illustrator based in Morrison, Colorado. Originally from northeast Ohio, I've been drawing since I could hold a crayon and first opened Photoshop at eleven — the pull toward digital art and design never really let up after that.

I studied Illustrative Design at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, a path I chose deliberately: it let me train in graphic design without setting illustration aside. That dual focus still shapes how I work. I'm drawn to brand identity and event collateral, I love the texture of traditional illustration, and I'm always looking for ways to marry the two. Most of my projects start with hand-sketched thumbnails and mood boards, and the parts I like best are concepting, refining, and getting the work into physical form — print production, fabrication, anything with an object at the end of it.

Before design, I studied ecology and biodiversity, which took me to the Bahamas to catch, tag, and release sharks for marine research. I'm still a certified diver, still convinced I'd be a biologist in another life, and still most at home outdoors. The otter in my logo is not entirely an accident.

Outside of work I'm usually hiking, gardening, painting miniatures, or playing board games, generally with some combination of two cats and two aquariums nearby. One of the cats is named Shrimp. The shrimp are not named.

I'm currently seeking full-time graphic design roles in the Denver area, and I'm open to freelance and collaborative projects.
